Candle Care Tips

Always burn your candle in a safe, heat-resistant place, away from children and pets, draperies, loose bedding, fans and drafts.
Before lighting, make sure the wick is no more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch long, and standing straight
Each time you burn your candle, make sure it burns long enough so that the melt pool (melted wax on top) reaches the edges of the container. This will ensure an even burn all the way down, and no tunneling down the center. Soyphisticated Candles are tested and designed so that they will burn evenly from edge to edge. A good rule to follow is to give any candle 1 hour of burn time for each inch of diameter (a 3 inch diameter container candle with one wick should burn to the edges within 3 hours. Soyphisticated Candles, depending on the particular fragrance, frequently take less time for the melt pool to reach the edges). Burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. (although you may extinguish it after 4 hours and let the wax solidify, then relight it. This will help keep the jar a bit cooler, and prevent the melt-pool from becoming too deep) |

Never blow out your candle. Always extinguish the flame by dipping the burning wick into the wax to put out the flame and also prime the wick for the next burn. You may use special 'wick dippers' for this, or even a kitchen knife or pencil. Make sure the wick is then in an upright position.
After the wax cools and solidifies, trim the wick to 1/4 to 1/2 inch long, and remove any trimmings from the candle. |
